About Us

The Bangladesh Medical Association of North America (BMANA) is a non-profit professional organization founded in 1981, representing physicians of Bangladeshi heritage residing in North America. With a membership exceeding 700, BMANA continues to expand.

The Young Physician forum of BMANA lead by the Young Physician Secretary aim to empower young physicians as a cornerstone of strength and the future. It serves as a robust platform for both incoming and established young physicians, as well as all medical students, residents, and fellows of Bangladeshi origin. BMANA strives to foster professional solidarity in the pursuit of excellence in patient care, teaching, and research, while upholding a steadfast commitment to community service.

Goals

  • Assist young physicians in establishing their careers.
  • Provide support throughout the residency process and interviews, organize various workshops and seminars year-round, offer in-person mentorship (including U.S. clinical experience and research opportunities), observer ships, and aid in temporary job placement.
  • Enhance efficiency and uphold ethical and professional standards among new interns and residents during their training.
  • Foster continuous medical education (CME) to advance knowledge and skills.
  • Offer guidance on career development and life after residency.
  • Encourage established physicians in academia or private practice to support and mentor young physicians.

Each year, BMANA hosts an annual professional convention in different U.S. cities. Members of BMANA and its chapters, as well as non-member Resident Physicians, Post-Doctoral Fellows, and Medical Scientists of Bangladeshi Origin, are encouraged to submit scientific abstracts for presentation at the BMANA Convention.
